WILLOWBROOK, IL JUNE 11, 2006: PrepTraveler.com, the website for the burgeoning student & youth sports publication by Premier Tourism Marketing, has launched a new community-based web portal. The site, www.PrepTraveler.com, at over 1,800 pages, is already the largest online player in the market, and with cutting-edge technology, it's poised to dominate the industry.
What's a Wiki?
The site is built on a Wiki platform, a piece of software that allows users to freely create and edit web page content using any web browser. Wiki technology burst on the scene with popular websites like Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia that's built and maintained by its users. Allowing everyday users to create and edit any page in a website is exciting in that it encourages democratic use of the web.
For the Prep Traveler community, this means that any destination or travel service provider is free to develop their own pages on the website and showcase their products and services to the youth travel marketplace. Better yet, there are no strings attached, membership fees or commitments. Just the desire to attract student & youth sports groups to your destination.
Once registered anyone can edit their destination's content, post places to play, stay, perform, have fun and contribute fundraising ideas for student or sports groups. It's a true collaborative website.
"The online community of student & youth group travel is substantial and growing," states Jeff Gayduk, president of the firm. "Now with a resource like PrepTraveler.com, youth group travel planners have an opportunity to research hundreds of destinations on one site. Our goal is to provide an objective platform, where those that are interested in attracting student group business can do so in a community environment."
Upgrades for Print Magazine Too
The print edition of Prep Traveler magazine is also going digital this September. The entire magazine will be available as an online, digital magazine, complete with hyperlinks to editorial mentions and advertisers. "It just made sense that as we're developing this new web portal that we also come out with a digital edition of our print magazine," said Gayduk. "This is a huge benefit to advertisers, as their ads will be seen by the 26,000 youth planners that subscribe to Prep Traveler, and also the thousands of visitors to the PrepTraveler.com website each month. We are the publishing company that leading the industry in developing new, digital solutions to help advertisers reach this market."
